Happy Spring Day to You!

Here chick, chick! Oh my, what did I bring home to celebrate the first day of spring? Two Rhode Island Reds, one Barred Rock, one Buff Orpington, and two Black Sexlinks. Six was the minimum available to purchase. I wanted Golden Sexlinks, but there were no day-olds in that breed, just week olds and I didn't want to have the older chicks beating up the younger ones.
This year the coop will be stationary again.

Tomatoes and Snowdrift marigolds I started from seed.

The weather around the Pacific Northwest was just right for working in the garden last night. It will be great today as well. I have a few more trees to prune back, though most are done. I'll move mulch covering off the main beds into side areas and finish sprucing up the inside of the garden shed.

The double layer of covering on the green house will most likely come off. We have had the low's into the high 20's, but during the day, the greenhouse has been recorded at 110 degrees. Time for some shifting, light removed, heating mats placed on timers.

Tom Thumb lettuce started from seed.

It will be a great day for gardening, don't you agree?
